Pond Maintenance & Water Quality Management

Professional pond care to keep your koi healthy and thriving. Prevention is always better than cure.

Why Pond Maintenance Matters

A well-maintained pond is the foundation of koi health. Poor water quality is the number one cause of disease and stress in koi. Regular professional maintenance catches problems before they become emergencies, saving you money and protecting your fish.

Our pond maintenance service is designed for koi keepers who want peace of mind. We handle the technical water chemistry so you can enjoy your fish.

What We Offer

Regular Health Checks

We recommend at minimum two professional visits per month — one in early spring as your koi come out of winter torpor, and one in autumn to prepare them for the colder months. During these checks we assess fish condition, test water parameters, inspect filtration, and identify any emerging concerns.

Filtration System Evaluation & Optimisation

Is your filter sized correctly for your pond volume and fish load? We evaluate your biological, mechanical, and UV filtration stages. Where needed, we recommend upgrades or adjustments to improve water clarity and biological stability.

Water Chemistry Balancing & Monitoring

We test and balance the full range of parameters that affect koi health: ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, KH (carbonate hardness), GH (general hardness), and dissolved oxygen. Stable water chemistry is the single most important factor in preventing disease.

Waste Management & Cleaning Guidance

Excess organic waste fuels harmful bacteria and depletes oxygen. We advise on feeding rates, bottom drain schedules, filter cleaning frequency, and plant management to keep your pond ecosystem balanced.

How Often Should You Service Your Pond?

At a minimum, twice per year. However, ponds with high fish densities, new setups, or a history of disease issues benefit from quarterly visits. We create a maintenance schedule tailored to your specific pond.
